Principal Practitioner Of Hand Therapy
Jo graduated from the University of Queensland as an Occupational Therapist in 1989. Since then she has worked in a variety of rehabilitation and acute settings in Australia and overseas, until specializing in Hand Therapy in 1997. She completed her Masters in Hand and Upper Limb Rehabilitation in 2001 through Curtin University in Perth while working at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. After 7 years in the Hand Unit there, she moved to the EKCO Hand and Upper Limb Rehabilitation Unit where she continued to practice Hand Therapy. In June 2007, she opened her own practice at Toowoomba Hand Therapy which is based at St Vincent’s Hospital.
Sue graduated from the University of Queensland as an Occupational Therapist in 1994 with first class Honours. Since then she has worked in both public and private settings in Ipswich and Toowoomba. Sue specialised in hand therapy in 1998, and completed further study in this area through Curtin University in Perth. Subjects included (a) Anatomy and Kinesiology and (b) Tissue Injury and Repair. Sue currently works part-time as the Specialist Occupational Therapist at Toowoomba Base Hospital, and has joined the team at Toowoomba Hand Therapy on a Monday and Wednesday. Sue is currently undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Wound Management.
Lachie graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast as an Occupational Therapist in 2013. During his degree Lachie gained experience working in out-patient neurological rehabilitation, mental health, paediatrics and Hand Therapy. Since graduating he has worked in a variety of community health settings on the Sunshine Coast mostly dealing in post-acute community care, before moving to Toowoomba in early 2015 to specialise in Hand Therapy.
Yvette graduated from the University of Queensland as an Occupational Therapist in 2010 with first class Honours. Since then Yvette has worked in the OPERA team at the Ipswich hospital, and spent 4 ½ years working in Roma as the Community Occupational Therapist with a very varied caseload including Acute Inpatients, Paediatrics, Community Outpatients, Hand Therapy, Burns patients, Lymphoedema and Outreach Services. She completed her level 1 Lymphoedema certificate in 2015 through the Royal Brisbane Hospital. Yvette joined the team at Toowoomba Hand Therapy in mid 2016 to further her interest in Hand Therapy as a specialty practice area.
Alison graduated from the University of Queensland as an Occupational Therapist with first class honours in 2006. After graduating Alison trained in Hand Therapy with Hands On Therapy in Brisbane for 4 years before returning home to Toowoomba in 2011. Since then she has worked in Hand Therapy, Orthopaedics and general Occupational Therapy at the Toowoomba Base Hospital and has recently joined Toowoomba Hand Therapy one day a week.
Narelle comes to Toowoomba Hand Therapy with several years experience as an office manager and is the backbone of the office. She looks forward to assisting you with any queries.
Shayne has had several years experience in administration and currently works Fridays for Toowoomba Hand Therapy.
